This is why Dr Susan Mcbeth and the McBeth Orthodontic Team are joining football great Emmitt Smith, his family, and the American Association of Orthodontics during the month of April to help raise awareness and increase the use of facial protection in youth sports in Rogers, Bentonville, Siloam Springs and the surrounding areas in the Ozarks.
Watch this video on YouTube about the importance of wearing mouth guards and protective gear when playing contact sports. You can also download a free Emmitt Smith Family Poster at http://www.braces.org/sportsafety/sports_safety_tips.html

Dr Susan McBeth and the McBeth Orthodontics Team want to dispel an urban legend about chewing gum: if you swallow a wad of gum, it does not sit in your stomach for seven years. In most cases, actually, not even seven days. Chewing gum, although not meant to be swallowed, passes harmlessly through the digestive system and is excreted in the same manner as everything else we eat.
There is some truth to the myth, however: chewing gum is not digested. It contains resins, sometimes natural and sometimes synthetic, which our bodies cannot break down. Gum is simply passed along our digestive tract.
